The OPTIPROT group is made up of five Technology Centres with a marked scientific and technological trajectory that has made them national and European benchmarks: AZTI (Basque Country), AINIA (Valencian Community), ANFACO-CECOPESCA (Galicia), CNTA (Navarre) and EURECAT (Catalonia).
AZTI is a scientific and technological centre specialising in the marine environment and food, which develops high-impact transformation projects. AZTI’s main activity focuses on its Applied Research, New Products and Services, Scientific Advice and Business Revitalisation projects.
AZTI develops precision nutrition solutions, understood as the adaptation of food to the specific needs of the individual. In this sense, it applies omic technologies for innovation and the creation of a variety of specific healthy products for different population groups.
ANFACO-CECOPESCA is a Technological Centre of international reference located in the University Campus of Vigo (Galicia), being the only Technological Centre in Galicia with competences in the marine and food field.
The purpose of ANFACO CECOPESCA is to facilitate the development and improvement of the competitiveness of its associated companies and clients, providing them with R&D&I, quality and food safety services, specialised advice, training, technical assistance, international cooperation, among others. ANFACO-CECOPESCA plays an important role as a dynamic agent of the marine-food industry and the defence of its interests, as well as the transfer of research results to the business fabric.
AINIA is a technology centre with more than 35 years of experience in R&D&I and its mission with respect to its customers is to provide innovative solutions with technological rigour.
AINIA’s areas of expertise include: food of the future, food quality and safety, health and wellbeing, green transition and digital transformation. The sectors in which it operates include food, cosmetics, packaging, health and chemicals. AINIA has staff specialised in the development of ingredients and functional foods and in omic technologies.
CNTA is the main regional agri-food R&D centre in Navarre, where the agri-food sector is the second most important specific activity. CNTA’s mission is to contribute to improving the competitiveness, quality and safety of the agri-food sector.
CNTA has extensive experience and specialised personnel in the development of new ingredients and functional foods and, in particular, based on alternative proteins, as well as in screening based on functional properties and metabolomics.
EURECAT is the leading Technology Centre in Catalonia and the second largest private research organisation in Southern Europe. EURECAT offers both large and small and medium-sized companies from all sectors applied R&D projects, technological services, highly specialised training, technological consultancy and professional events.
The centre has a high degree of knowledge and expertise in more than 20 technology areas, including Nutrition and Health, Life Sciences, as well as Artificial Intelligence (eHealth), Advanced Manufacturing, Smart Materials, Printed electronics, Robotics and automation, Medical devices and Sustainability.
